The project will deploy dozens of autonomous vehicles, including WeRide's Robotaxis and Robobuses, in phases. The first fleet is set to begin operations in the second quarter of 2025, offering fully unmanned services for five years.
Initially, WeRide Robotaxis will operate in the Furttal region, covering the towns of Otelfingen, Boppelsen, Hüttikon, and Dänikon, with plans to expand to Buchs, Dällikon, and Regensdorf. Local residents will be able to book rides through ioki, a European on-demand mobility app.
The initiative is supported by SBB, which operates a 3,000-kilometer nationwide railway network, and the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland's most populous region. The STL, known for promoting innovative transportation solutions, oversees the project. Through this collaboration, WeRide aims to enhance Switzerland's smart mobility network, offering residents more efficient and convenient travel options.
