In May, the city of Beijing introduced regulations for intelligent connected heavy-duty truck platooning, outlining dual development pathways for follow-vehicle testing and commercialization under "driverless with safety operator onboard in follow vehicle" scenarios. KargoBot is among the first companies authorized for L4 truck platooning road tests.
This latest approval advances testing to driverless follow-vehicle scenarios, solidifying KargoBot's technological breakthroughs and progress toward fully unmanned operations.
With this authorization, KargoBot can conduct road tests on sections of high-speed routes, including the Beijing-Taipei Expressway and Daxing Airport Expressway. These tests provide complex, real-world conditions to enhance the maturity of autonomous platooning technology.
In November, KargoBot became the first company in China authorized to conduct autonomous truck tests across four regions in North and Northwest China (Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Tianjin, and Hebei), establishing a logistics artery for bulk cargo transport. This achievement demonstrates KargoBot's continued advancement in autonomous freight innovation and commercial deployment.
