Shanghai, April 29 (Gasgoo.com) At the 2009 Shanghai auto show, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Auto (DPCA) unveiled the Citroen C-Quatre sedan as a follow-up to the C-Quatre hatchback that was launched last August, sina.com said today. The locally made C-Quatre sedan will go on sale in the Chinese market in June.

Based on the European C4, the C-Quatre sedan developed and built by Dongfeng Citroen is powered by either a 1.6- or 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, with a choice of five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions. They will come with the fashion, comfort and luxury versions.

Some new features on the C-Quatre sedan include a redesigned front fascia, a body-colored front lip, and more compartmentalized fog lights. The nose appears to stick out a bit more. It also looks as though the center of the car is raised a bit, giving a rounder roofline, and more headroom for rear passengers.

DPCA has also introduced a Chinese edition of the Citroen C5 upper-medium sedan, which will go into production in December at the new Wuhan plant and should begin reaching customers in China in early 2010. The restyled C5 will allow the Citroen brand to compete at the high-end sedan segment.

Citroen has ambitious plans for the China market, with 20 dealerships redesigned to boast a new image, and an upgraded network expected to cover 230 cities by 2010. In addition, Citroen has developed 12 technical training centers this year, plus two sales schools, in Chengdu and Wuhan.
