Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 23) - Lifan Motors aims to export 53,000 vehicles this year, auto.ifeng.com reported today, citing a statement made by Mu Gang, Lifan Group's vice president and head of its import and export company. Mr. Mu also added that it hopes to see its overseas sales in 2015 reach 120,000 vehicles.
Lifan Motors, one of Chongqing's primary automobile and motorcycle manufacturers, first entered the export market in 2007. To date, Lifan possesses knockdown factories in Russia, Serbia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Uruguay, Iraq and several other countries. The manufacturer has managed to sell 12,000 vehicles over the first seven months of the year in Russia alone.
Despite its relatively short time in business, Lifan is very attentive to the demands of foreign market, Liao Xionghui (pictured below), general manager of Lifan's sales department, stated. The manufacturer's annual export volume has increased from 4,990 units in 2007 to 46,000 last year. Lifan exported 20,708 vehicles from January to July, making it the country's third largest automobile exporter.
Unlike its competitors, Lifan primarily uses knockdown factories for its sales to foreign countries. Mr. Mu (pictured above) explains that this method it helps avoid the high taxes and logistic costs associated with manufacturing vehicles in China and then sending them overseas. He revealed that Lifan makes average profits of 5,000 yuan ($794.30) for the average automobile sale made in a foreign market.
In order to maintain its competitive edge in Latin America, the manufacturer recently established its first foreign research and design center in Brazil. Mr. Mu acknowledges that some of Lifan's products have not adhered to local standards, and hopes that the new R&D center will help the manufacturer in producing vehicles that meet regional laws and emission and environmental standards.
