Beijing (Gasgoo)- Until November 12, BYD has made 20,000 Han EVs in the automaker’s Shenzhen plant. What's more, the monthly output of the model will soon exceed 10,000 units, according to an executive of the company.
He Qizhi, COO of the automaker’s passenger vehicle business, said at the ceremony, “In order to ensure a timely delivery, the Shenzhen plant has been producing at full capacity and the monthly production is going to surpass 10,000 units.”

It’s BYD’s first mass-produced model that uses the company’s ultra-safe Blade Battery. Thanks to the battery, the model can run up to 605 kilometers (376 miles) in NEDC cycle on one single charge. The Han’s roof uses advanced laser brazing technology, while its 1500HS thermoformed steel is the most ever used for any comparable Chinese automobile. Other notable safety features include 11 standard airbags and six cameras, highly-efficient air purification filters, and more.
In July, the Han EV series officially went on sale, including three pure electric models. According to BYD, the extended-range version is priced at RMB229,800 (about $34,769), the extended-range variant of the premium model priced at RMB255,800 (about $38,703), and the 4WD high-performance version priced at RMB279,500 (about $42,288). Besides, its PHEV version, the Han DM, will sell at RMB219,800 (about $33,256).
After its launching, the orders for the series have exceeded 40,000. The cumulative sales of the BYD Han, including the EV and DM versions, totaled 18,362 units, taking up 34.32% of the automaker’s new energy vehicle sales. In October, the automaker sold 7,545 Han vehicles.
