Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In August 2022, Tesla's wholesale volume of its China-made vehicles reached 76,965 units, surging 73.88% from the previous year, while also zooming up 172.76% from the previous month, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association ("CPCA").
Regarding the wholesales of China-built new energy vehicles ("NEVs"), Tesla was credited the runner-up among automakers in China, following BYD, which sold 173,977 NEVs last month.
Among China-made NEV models, the Model Y ranked highest in August with a wholesale volume of 62,169 units.

Of Tesla's made-in-China new vehicles sold last month, 42,463 units were exported outside China, representing a 114.94% spike month-over-month.
In terms of Aug. NEV export volume, Tesla China outperformed other automakers in China, which are also represented by SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company (15,004 units), Dongfeng eGT (8,462 units), BYD Auto (5,092 units), Geely Auto (1,933 units), SAIC Maxus (1,232 units), etc.
The association's data show that China’s domestically built NEV wholesales reached around 632,000 units, shooting up 103.9% from a year earlier and also growing 12% compared to July this year.
For the first eight months of 2022, the country boasted a 119.4% surge year-over-year in total China-built NEV wholesale volume, which amounted to 3.662 million units.
