Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China's Shanxi province aims to see over 10,000 fuel cell vehicles ("FCV") running on roads by the end of 2025, over 2,000 units should be deployed in its capital city, Taiyuan, according to a document recently released by the Shanxi Development and Reform Commission.

In this document, Shanxi's authorities specify the medium- and long-term (2022-2035) planning for the development of local hydrogen industry.

Under the plan, the FCV population of Shanxi province is expected to grow to 50,000 units by 2030. Meanwhile, renewable energy sources should be put into scale application in multiple industries like transportation and energy storage, and a hydrogen industrial cluster where businesses are properly deployed and can draw on each other's strengths should be formed to help Shanxi achieve carbon neutrality.

As of 2035, Shanxi province expects a country-leading hydrogen industrial cluster to take shape and the percentage of renewable energy resources in hydrogen making field should be greatly lifted, in a bid to shore up the province’s transition to green and low-carbon energy development.

In addition, Shanxi province will strive to be included in one of the FCV demonstration cities in China. Pivoting on the core links of industrial chain, it will work on hammering out policies for governmental capital guidance and support, and boosting the commercialization of scientific and research findings.
