The open roads in Shanghai’s Jiading District reached 500.6 kilometers in distance, including 459.6 kilometers of urban roads, 21.5 kilometers of the G1503 Ring Expressway, and 19.5 kilometers of the G2 Beijing-Shanghai Expressway. The move signifies that the entire Jiading District is now open for autonomous driving tests, and also represents a major breakthrough in the autonomous driving field under heavy-flow, highly-dynamic, high-complexity highway scenarios.
Up to now, Shanghai has opened a total of 926 test roads spanning 1,800 kilometers and 15,000 autonomous driving test-use scenarios.
By 2025, Shanghai aims to have more than 800 kilometers of smart highways and smart city roads (including expressways), as well as more than 500 smart intersections citywide. Moreover, the city plans to build more than 100 demonstrative smart public parking lots (garages), including large lots with more than 300 registered spots and super-large lots with more than 1,000 registered spots.
Especially, Shanghai also has plans to build China’s first G3 level intelligent parking garage, and the first holographic road supporting L4 autonomous driving truck operations.
