Since its debut in 2021, DJI Automotive has experienced rapid growth, expanding its network of partners and integrating its technologies into various vehicle models. At the Auto China 2024, DJI's booth featured several new vehicles equipped with DJI Automotive's intelligent driving solutions, including models from SAIC Volkswagen, FAW-Volkswagen, Baojun, and Chery. This reflects DJI Automotive's commitment to the concept of "intelligent technologies shared by both oil-fueled and new energy vehicles".
Apart from the basic configurations of the Chengxing Platform, DJI Automotive presented other advanced solutions at the booth, including a high-performance intelligent driving solution based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride™ SoC (SA8650P) and an advanced integrated cockpit solution built on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride™ Flex SoC (SA8775P). The former is actively moving towards mass production, with upgraded and high-end configurations of the Chengxing Platform expected to be available to consumers in the second half of the year. Meanwhile, the latter is already available and is set to pioneer a new trend in integrated cockpit design.
Moreover, the previously unveiled JIMU solution were demonstrated in accord with in-cabin specifications at the Auto China 2024, demonstrating its capability of real-time perception of booth and surrounding environmental information. As a result of DJI Automotive's exploration into advanced autonomous driving, the solution combines the perception advantages of traditional vision solutions and LiDAR systems while significantly reducing resources and energy consumption. This not only lowers the threshold for enhancing Level 2+ advanced intelligent driving experiences, but also prepares for the future mass production of Level 3/Level 4 autonomous driving.
Dongfeng Motor and DJI Automotive jointly announced a formal strategic cooperation at the Auto China 2024 on April 25th, aiming to conducting in-depth collaboration in developing, integrating, and testing intelligent driving systems, which are set to be integrated into multiple vehicle under Dongfeng Motor for mass production. DJI Automotive's list of official automotive partners has expanded to five, namely, Volkswagen China, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Chery Automobile, FAW Group, and Dongfeng Motor.
Furthermore, DJI Automotive showcased an innovative expansion of its Chengxing Platform through video presentations: the vehicle-integrated drone solution. Leveraging the platform's flexibility, coupled with DJI Automotive's extensive technical expertise, this solution promises to offer a fire new perspective on intelligent travel.
Meanwhile, significant upgrades were made to the Chengxing Platform. In response to the demand for advanced intelligent driving experiences, DJI Automotive collaborated with Tencent Maps to develop a light map called AD Map tailored for advanced intelligent driving products. By integrating Tencent Maps' extensive data accumulated over years in the mapping industry with DJI Automotive's know-how in intelligent driving application development, the AD Map powers intelligent driving functionalities comprehensively. By the third quarter of 2024, the AD Map will be implemented into the Chengxing Platform, further enhancing the user experience of driving assistance, highway navigation, memory navigation, and urban piloting products. Furthermore, the AD Map will also support cloud-based multisource data transmission and self-learning driving experience layer construction in the future.
To meet the high-precision (sub-meter level) stable positioning requirements for navigation and intelligent driving functions, and to ensure that users can activate navigation and intelligent driving functions even in areas with poor positioning or low GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) stability, DJI Automotive has partnered with China Mobile to introduce high-precision positioning services. This feature reuses existing hardware on the Chengxing Platform, and integrates GNSS and visual information to provide stable high-precision positioning information for intelligent driving and the cabin. By the third quarter of this year, the Chengxing Platform will implement this feature, further enhancing users' navigation and intelligent driving experiences.
