Beijing Hyundai to release 9 new NEV models before 2020

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Beijing Hyundai will release nine new NEV models before 2020, according to the automaker. Up till now, it has released two NEV models, the Hyundai Sonata 9 Hybrid and the new Elantra EV. In addition, Beijing Hyundai will introduce other seven new NEV models into the market in the future.

In accordance with the product plan, Beijing Hyundai will release the Sonata 9 Plug-in Hybrid and an all-new pure electric vehicle in 2018. The new EV is expected to be the ix25 pure electric version model, according to Beijing Hyundai's existing product lineup.

Beijing Hyundai released and named its new energy strategy as NEW in 2016. The N indicates that the company will release nine new NEV models before 2020. E means that the new energy technologies, that is the HEV, PHEV, EV and FCV technologies will be widely applied in Beijing Hyundai's new energy products. And the W represented New Way, demonstrating that Beijing Hyundai advocates new and healthy lifestyle and mobility mode.

With the launching of its first new energy model, the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid in June, 2016, Beijing Hyundai started to introduce NEV models into the market and hence gradually completed its NEV models' deployment in each segment. After the Hyundai Elantra EV hitting the market with two variants in August, 2017, the Elantra GS and GS Plus filled the company's vacancy in pure electric vehicle area.
