Tesla sells 52,859 China-made vehicles in November

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Tesla sold 52,859 China-made vehicles in November, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). That included 21,127 vehicles that were exported to other countries last month. 

The combined sales of China-made Tesla vehicles in October and November amounted to 107,250 units, accounting for 80.5% of the company’s third-quarter sales.

The association said on Wednesday, China’s new energy passenger vehicle (NEPV) wholesales totaled 429,000 vehicles last month, jumping 17.9% month over month, and surging 131.7% year over year. The monthly NEV volume accounted for 19.9% of the country’s total passenger vehicles wholesale volume in November. The cumulative wholesale volume of NEVs soared 190% to 2.807 million vehicles in the first eleven months of this year.

Battery electric vehicles still had larger share than plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. In November, the wholesale volume of battery electric vehicles grew by 121.1% from a year ago to 343,000 units while the volume of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles stood at 85,000 vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of 187.1%.

Tesla was outsold by BYD in November, whose monthly wholesale volume amounted to 90,546 units. Apart from the said two companies, another 12 automakers saw their monthly wholesale surpass 10,000 units. They are SAIC GM Wuling (50,141 vehicles), Great Wall Motor (16,136 vehicles), XPeng (15,613 vehicles), GAC AION (15,035 vehicles), Chery (14,482 vehicles), Li Auto (13,485 vehicles), Geely Auto (13,090 vehicles), SAIC Motor PV (12,225 vehicles), SAIC VW (11,986 vehicles), NIO (10,878 vehicles), FAW VW (10,705 vehicles) and Hozon (10,013 vehicles).

China’s NEPV export remained strong in November. Tesla exported 21,127 vehicles from China last month, SAIC Motor PV 6,110 vehicles, Geely Auto 470 vehicles, Great Wall Motor 426 vehicles and BYD 404 vehicles.
