China adds about 247,000 charging piles in February, up 219.6% YoY
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- By the end of Feb. 2022, there had been 2.864 million charging piles deployed across China, up 62.9% from the same period of last year, according to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (EVCIPA).
For the first two months of 2022, around 247,000 charging piles (+219.6%) were newly built in the country, including 66,000 public piles (+120.8% YoY) and 181,000 private ones (+282.1% YoY).

As of Feb. 2022, the number of public charging piles in the country had added up to 1.213 million, including 496,000 DC piles, 717,000 AC piles, and 589 DC-AC integrated charging piles, the EVCIPA said after compiling the data reported by members of the alliance.
There were around 31,000 public charging poles newly deployed per month on average within the year ended February 2022.
In terms of the volume of charging stations by February 2022, the top five provinces or direct-administered municipalities were Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Beijing. The top 10 rankings remained the same as that of January 2022.
Regarding the amount of charging stations by February 2022, the top three operators were still TELD, State Grid, and Star Charge. The charging station volume of the No.4 to No.6 operators all stood between 4,500 and 7,500.
The data from the EVCIPA also showed that the EV manufacturer NIO had deployed 761 charging stations by February, 18 more than that of the previous-month period, while Tesla's charging station volume was still 364, indicating no new facility was added last month.
As of February 2022, China had owned a total of 1,405 battery swap stations, 19 of which were newly built last month. By the volume of battery swap stations, the top five provinces or direct-administered municipalities in China were Beijing, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shanghai.
The top three battery swap station operators in China were still NIO (873), Aulton (424), and Hangzhou First Technology (108) in terms of the station volume by February this year.
