China’s Hainan expects EV charging piles to cover all cities, counties, towns in 2022

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- EV charging piles are expected to fully cover all cities, counties, and towns in the southern Chinese island province of Hainan by the end of 2022, according to a document recently issued by the Hainan Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

In 2022, Hainan's authorities aim to build 20,000 EV charging piles across the province. Besides, cities and counties are required to have at least 30% towns equipped with a charging station composed of 5 fast-charging piles, and about 20% villages of the province will have charging piles.

In accordance with the document, Hainan province will make greater efforts to build charging piles in rural areas, residential districts, expressway service plazas, and public service areas, in a bid to pave the way for ending sales of oil-fueled vehicles in 2030.

To be specific, the government expects no less than 60% of residential districts to possess charging piles by 2022, with at least 6,000 piles newly added this year. Besides, charging facilities should be installed in 30% scenic spots, 50% places for culture and sports activities, and 70% grade Ⅱ and above hospitals, and over 70% colleges and vocational schools by 2022.

As part of efforts to help achieve the aim of carbon neutrality, the construction of battery swapping stations, especially the stations dedicated to heavy-duty trucks, will be boosted this year as well.
