SAIC Motor’s NEV brand Rising Auto says R7’s first PPV prototype comes off line
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Rising Auto, a new energy vehicle (NEV) brand of SAIC Motor, saw the first PPV (production process validation) prototype of the R7, the first flagship model of the brand after its independent operation, roll off the production line at SAIC Motor's plant in Lin-gang Special Area on March 21, according to a post on Rising Auto's WeChat account.

The milestone meant that the R7 has moved one step closer to volume production. According to Rising Auto, the maturity of the production technique and facilities, the reliability and durability of R7's battery, electric motor and electric control systems, the matching status of software and hardware for the smart cockpit have all reached a level ready for mass production.
Before the birth of the PPV model, the R7 has successfully sailed through the extreme cold weather tests by delivering a range of over 600km and a peak output of 400kW.
The automaker also touts a high intelligence level for the R7. The model is equipped with SAIC Motor’s self-developed high-level full-stack intelligent driving system PP-CEM™ (Pixel-Point Cloud - Comprehensive Environment Model), which forms an all-weather, beyond-visual-range, multidimensional perception system with laser radars, 4D imaging radars, a high precision map, visual cameras, millimeter-wave radars, as well as other sensors.
The R7 became available for pre-order in February this year and is likely to go into mass production and delivery in the second half of 2022.
