Highly Marelli’s Wuhu plant starts operation

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Highly Marelli saw the first mass-produced product roll off a heat exchanger production line at its Wuhu plant on June 20, indicating that the new factory has officially begun operation, according to a post on Highly Group's WeChat account.

The plant is managed and operated by Wuhu Highly Marelli Automotive Thermal Management System Co., Ltd., which is wholly-owned by Highly Marelli Automotive System Co., Ltd. According to the corporate information provider Tianyancha, the parent is a subsidiary of Highly Marelli Holdings Co., Limited, the joint venture between automotive suppliers MARELLI and Highly Group.

On April 30, 2021, Highly Group signed an investment agreement to build a heat exchanger plant in the Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone, Wuhu city, Anhui province, and broke ground on the plant in September of the same year.

The Wuhu plant is one of the key projects in China initiated by Highly Marelli Holdings Co., Limited. It is built to produce HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning) units and heat exchangers, which are the core components of the thermal management system in new energy vehicles (NEVs).

The plant will have an annual production capacity of 800,000 units of HVAC units, and 7 million units of heat exchangers. Besides, the company has already launched a NEV compressor project with a production capacity of 650,000 units per year in the Wuhan factory.

According to Highly Group, the Wuhu project is expected to formally supply goods in July this year after sailing through evaluation and checking by clients like Nissan Motor. All production lines will start volume production by the end of 2022.
