GAC AION achieves highest-ever monthly deliveries in June 2022

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC AION, the NEV-dedicated arm of GAC Group, achieved all-time high monthly sales with 24,109 vehicles delivered in June 2022, representing a 182% hike compared to the same span of 2021.

Aside from June, the NEV manufacturer also recorded a monthly delivery volume of over 20,000 units in March and May this year.

For the first half of 2022, GAC AION saw its total new vehicle deliveries surge 134% from the previous year to 100,251 units.

GAC AION expects its second car manufacturing plant to start production in December 2022, the automaker revealed in mid-May in a document of an investor relations event. Upon operation, the new factory will help the automaker double its total production capacity to 400,000 vehicles per year.

Located in Panyu district, Guangzhou city, GAC AION's second plant will not only produce the five existing models (the AION Y, the AION S PLUS, the AION S, the AION V, and the AION LX), but also other new models.

At the 2022 GAC TECH DAY held on June 28, GAC Group launched its new-generation super iron lithium battery built on microcrystalline technology (“SmLFP”), which the company said can provide batteries with 13.5% higher cell quality energy density and 20% greater volume energy density than regular mass-produced iron phosphate lithium battery cells sold on the market. This technology will be applied in GAC AION's newest models at first.
