China adds about 1.362 million charging piles in Jan.-Jul. 2022, up 308.3% YoY

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- By the end of July 2022, there had been 3.98 million charging piles deployed across China, up 97.5% from the same period of last year, according to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (EVCIPA).

For the first seven months of 2022, around 1.362 million charging piles (+308.3% YoY) were newly built in the country, including 428,000 public piles (+199.2% YoY) and 934,000 private ones (+390.1% YoY).

Last month, around 47,000 public charging piles were newly deployed in China, representing a 65.7% year-on-year leap.

As of July 2022, the volume of public charging piles in China had added up to 1.575 million units, including 68,400 DC piles, 890,000 AC piles, and 485 DC-AC integrated charging piles, the EVCIPA reported after summarizing the data provided by members of the alliance.

There were around 52,000 public charging piles built per month on average within the year ended July 2022.

In terms of the charging station volume by July 2022, the top 10 provinces or direct-administered municipalities remained the same as that of the previous month. Guangdong held a significant lead by building 18,337 stations across the province, while both Jiangsu and Zhejiang have over 7,000 charging stations constructed.

Regarding the amount of charging stations by July 2022, the ranking of the top ten operators was the same as that of the month-ago period. TELD ranked highest by deploying 20,163 charging stations, followed by Station Grid (16,036) and Start Charge (11,342).

As of July 2022, China had owned a total of 1,625 battery swap stations, 43 of which were newly built last month. 

By the volume of battery swap stations as of July, the top five provinces or direct-administered municipalities in China accounted for 56% of the country's total volume.
