GAC Group’s auto sales zoom up 78% YoY in Aug. 2022
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group, one of the major Chinese automobile groups, announced it sold 217,838 vehicles last month, representing a 78.02% hike year-on-year, while facing a slight drop of 1.03% month-on-month.
In terms of Aug. sales, GAC Toyota still outsold other subsidiaries, while GAC Honda was the runner-up with its sales coming in at 71,040 units. Both of them scored a two-digit year-on-year growth in their Aug. sales.
The other Sino-Japanese joint venture, GAC Mitsubishi, posted a 26.59% decline from the previous year.
Among the group's subsidiaries, GAC AION was the fastest-growing one compared to the year-ago period in terms of both Aug. and year-to-date sales. The new energy vehicle-dedicated subsidiary further enriched its product lineup with the 2023 AION V Plus put onto the market at the Chengdu Motor Show 2022.

In August, the group had eight models whose respective sales all exceeded 10,000 units, namely, the Accord series (23,093 units), the Camry series (22,622 units), the Levin series (16,075 units), the Breeze series (13,896 units), the AION S (11,683 units), the AION Y (11,012 units), the Wildlander series (10,856 units), and the Frontlander (10,234 units).
The Guangzhou-based automobile group said its year-to-date new energy vehicle ("NEV") sales reached 170,842 units (+124% YoY), 30,443 units of which were sold last month to reflect a 137.61% year-on-year hike.
