Dongfeng Motor’s new power battery system enables 1,000km+ CLTC range

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Dongfeng Motor Corporation today announced via its WeChat account that its technology center has made new breakthroughs in the R&D of power battery system.

The automaker said its new power battery system is able to offer a complete vehicle a CLTC range of over 1,000km after sailing through the real-vehicle tests carried by the vehicle models under development on Dongfeng Motor’s strategic new energy vehicle (NEV) platform.

Partly thanks to Dongfeng Motor's proprietary highly efficient assembly technology, the new battery system is capable of an energy density of over 230Wh/kg.

In addition, this power battery system utilizes an intelligent all-weather battery safety management system, enabling a millisecond-level response speed. Supported by the high-precision SOX estimation and lithium dendrites self-healing technologies, the battery system features greatly improved service life, human-machine interaction experience, as well as accuracy on the range calculation, so as to efficiently alleviate users’ range anxiety.

According to the automaker, the new power battery system adopts a high-tensile aluminium alloy frame to deliver a first-order modality of over 60Hz. Thanks to the structural topology optimization, its battery pack’s structure features better durability.

Besides, the power battery system also uses a fire extinguishing system as part of safety guarantee approaches.
