China deploys 4.448 million EV charging piles by Sept. 2022

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- By the end of Sept. 2022, there had been 4.488 million charging piles deployed across China, up 101.9% compared to the cumulative volume reached by the same period of last year, according to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (EVCIPA).

For the first nine months of 2022, around 1.871 million charging piles (+245% YoY) were newly built in the country, including 489,000 public piles (+106.3% YoY) and 1.382 million private ones (+352.6% YoY).

Last month, around 12,000 public charging piles were newly deployed in China, representing a 56.6% year-on-year leap.

As of Sept. 2022, the volume of public charging piles in China had added up to 1.636 million units, including 704,000 DC piles and 931,000 AC piles, the EVCIPA reported after summarizing the data provided by members of the alliance.

There were around 49,000 public charging piles built per month on average within a year ended Sept. 2022.

In terms of the charging station volume by Sept. 2022, the top 10 provinces or direct-administered municipalities hold a total of 69,253 stations. Guangdong took a significant lead by building 19,116 charging stations across the province, while both Jiangsu and Zhejiang had over 7,000 stations deployed.

Regarding the amount of charging stations by Sept. 2022, the top three operators were still TELD, State Grid, and Star Charge. TELD ranked highest as the only operator to own over 20,000 charging stations.

As of Sept. 2022, China had deployed a total of 1,762 battery swap stations, 77 of which were newly built last month.

Regarding the volume of battery swap stations as of Sept., the top five provinces or direct-administered municipalities in China accounted for 55.79% of the country's total volume.
