BAIC Group announces EV-related patent authorized by European Patent Office
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BAIC Group announced via its WeChat account that its patent named "an estimation method for electric vehicle (EV)'s remaining range, and relevant system" has sailed through the substantive examination and been authorized by the European Patent Office ("EPO") (patent number: EP3369604), indicating the Beijing-based auto giant has obtained its first patent in the EV control domain overseas.
Aside from the EPO, the aforesaid patent has gone through the examinations by the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) as well. The authorization by the EPO not only indicates the recognition of BAIC Group's technology capabilities, but also helps enhance the group's influence in the EV field.

According to the automaker, the patent offers a method for EV remaining range estimation and energy management. By introducing the quantification results of drivers' driving behaviors and power battery's real-time working status and attenuation situation into the driver model, and calculating the compensation power factors, the patent is capable of an accurate estimation of EVs' remaining range, so as to cope with the low accuracy of the regular linear-model-based remaining range estimation method and greatly lift the estimation accuracy.
The automaker also noted that the technology involved in this patent was put into use in ARCFOX-branded vehicles by means of OTA in 2021, allowing a dynamic calculation of driving distances based on environmental temperatures, air-conditioning working status, and driving behaviors.
