Gotion High-tech announces two battery production capacity expansion projects in one day

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Gotion High-tech Co., Ltd. ("GOTION") on Oct. 27 announced two investment plans for expansion of its battery production capacity. The two projects will be conducted in Hefei and Liuzhou cities, respectively, aiming to add 30GWh of annual production capacity to the company.

According to GOTION's announcement, it plans to pour 6.7 billion yuan ($929.252 million) in building a power battery facility at Hefei Xinzhan High-tech Industrial Development Zone, which features a designed production capacity of 30GWh per year.

The Hefei-based project will be managed by Hefei Gotion Battery Technology Co., Ltd., which is indirectly wholly-owned by GOTION.

The company plans to build such facilities under the Hefei project as 20GWh ternary-lithium battery production lines and relevant supporting systems, with cells, modules, battery packs, and battery systems to be manufactured there.

The Hefei project is set to be completed in 16 months after its ground-breaking.

Meanwhile, GOTION also revealed the plan to build a 10GWh lithium ion power battery production base in Liuzhou city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with a total of 4.8 billion yuan ($665.733 million) to be plowed.

The Liuzhou project will be managed by Liuzhou Gotion Battery Co., Ltd., a majority-owned subsidiary of GOTION.

Covering a planned area of around 362mu (241,330 square meters), the Liuzhou base will contain 10GWh LFP battery production lines and relevant supporting facilities.

GOTION added the investment in the Liuzhou base is expected to help the company further explore the power battery market in South China region and is in line with its strategic development planning.
