Dongfeng Motor Corporation sees 76.2% YoY surge in Nov. new energy vehicle sales

Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s major automaker Dongfeng Motor Corporation ("Dongfeng Motor") disclosed on December 5 the monthly sales of the group’s new energy vehicles (NEVs) came in at 45,672 units in November, surging 76.2% year over year.

In the first eleven months of the year, Dongfeng Motor sold a cumulative 416,178 NEVs, representing a 173% soar over the same span last year.

Specifically, the group’s wholly-owned passenger vehicle brand, Dongfeng AEOLUS (Fengshen), sold 6,355 NEVs in November, indicating a 34.8% jump from a year ago. In the Jan.-Nov. period, the cumulative NEV sales volume of the brand amounted to 68,543 units, shooting up 159.2% compared to the previous year. 

Meanwhile, Dongfeng Motor’s premium NEV brand, VOYAH, saw a monthly delivery volume of 1,508 vehicles in November. Since the brand kicked off delivery in August 2021, VOYAH has delivered a total of 24,471 vehicles by the end of November. 

In the past month, Dongfeng Motor’s French-Sino NEV brand, eGT, sold an outstanding 11,740 NEVs, which more than doubled from a year ago with an increase of 103.9%. 

Among the NEVs sold in November, 6,497 units were eGT’s battery-electric compact SUV model, the Nano BOX, which also represented a month-on-month growth of 126%. In the first eleven months of 2022, eGT’s cumulative NEV sales volume summed up to 86,538 vehicles, hiking up 119.6% year over year.

As to Dongfeng Motor’s two Sino-Japanese joint ventures, Dongfeng Nissan sold 3,361 NEVs in November, up 27.9% from a year ago. In the past eleven months of the year, a total of 37,889 NEVs were sold by Dongfeng Nissan, skyrocketing 245% year on year.

On the other hand, Dongfeng Honda sold 2,039 battery-electric vehicles in the past month, indicating a 262.8% year-on-year increase. In the Jan.-Nov. period, the joint venture sold 16,086 battery-electric vehicles, which zoomed up 194.1% from the year-ago period.
