Specifically, Dongfeng Motor will develop fuel-cell passenger vehicles based on the Venucia V-Online fastback compact crossover SUV produced by Dongfeng Nissan under the Venucia brand. The automaker will deploy the vehicle and start a 36-month demonstration operation in Huadu District of Guangzhou, accelerating its layout in hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industry.

The pilot operation marked Dongfeng Motor’s another demonstration project of FCVs in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Earlier in April 2021, Dongfeng Motor officially introduced its action plan that will further strengthen its transformation to a technology-driven company. The company’s proprietary full-power fuel-cell passenger vehicle, which is also the first of its kind in China, was put into pilot operation in Foshan, Guangdong Province.

At the present, Dongfeng Motor’s hydrogen fuel cell system covers a range of power levels from 20kW to 300kW, which meet the requirements of all passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Moreover, the automaker has ten FCV models included in the catalogue released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT"). The FCVs are currently under demonstration operation in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, as well as Wuhan, Foshan, and other cities.
