NIO launches NIO EC7, all-new ES8 at NIO Day 2022
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the NIO Day 2022 held on Dec. 24 in Hefei city, capital of China’s Anhui province, NIO attracted attention of multiple viewers by unveiling two new flagship models, namely, the EC7 coupe-like SUV and the all-new ES8, both of which ride on NIO’s second-generation technology platform, the NT2.0.

Positioned as a full-sized coupe SUV, the NIO EC7 measures 4,968mm long, 1,974mm wide, and 1,714mm tall, with a wheelbase that spans 2,960mm. Coming with 8 body color solutions, it is scheduled for delivery in May next year.

The EC7 is priced at 488,000 yuan ($69,820) and 546,000 yuan ($78,120) for the version carrying a 75kWh and a 100kWh battery pack, respectively. Using the BaaS (Battery as a Service) mode, the model with the battery pack is priced at 418,000 yuan ($59,800), while users need to pay 980 yuan ($140) on a monthly basis to rent a 75kWh battery pack, and 1,680 yuan ($240) for a 100kWh pack.
Besides, the EC7's Premier version is priced at 578,000 yuan ($82,700) with the battery pack, and 450,000 yuan ($64,380) under the BaaS mode.
The EC7 adopts an air suspension system. It carries an electric motor at both the front and rear axles with a combined power output of 480kW. The model is able to zip from 0-100km/h within 3.8 seconds and features a 100-0km/h braking distance of just 33.9 meters.

The EC7 is the first NIO-branded model to use the active rear spoiler that comes with two modes—the Eco Mode and the Sport Mode. The model features a drag coefficient as low as 0.23Cd.

The all-new NIO ES8 is designed as a full-sized six-seater SUV applicable to multiple scenarios such as office, home, and social places, said the company.
Adopting NIO's "Design for AD" design philosophy, the all-new ES8 records a drag coefficient as low as 0.25Cd.
The all-new ES8 with battery pack features a price range of 528,000 yuan to 586,000 yuan ($75,540-$83,840). Using the BaaS mode, it is priced at 458,000 yuan ($65,520) without the battery pack.

Besides, the Executive Version of the all-new ES8 starts at 548,000 yuan ($78,400) with the battery pack, while the Signature Version's price is 638,000 yuan ($91,280).
The all-new ES8 is expected for delivery in June 2023.

The all-new ES8 is equipped with two electric motors that pump out a combined output of 480kW, and can zip from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds. The six-piston calipers contribute to a 100-0km/h braking distance of 34.3 meters.
Both the NIO EC7 and all-new ES8 run on NIO's Banyan Digital System, the NIO Aquila Super Sensing system composed of 33 high-performance sensors like super-long-distance LiDAR and 8 mega-pixel cameras, and the NIO ADAM Super Computing system, which enables a combined computing power of up to 1,016 TOPS partly thanks to four NVIDIA Drive Orin X chips.
In addition, the two new models both come standard with PanoCinema, an immersive digital cabin featuring the 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos Immersive Surround Sound system, waterfall-styled ambient lighting, and AR/VR technologies.

At the once-a-year product launch event, NIO also introduced its third-generation battery swapping station (Power Swap Station 3.0) with the service capacity increased to 408 battery swaps per day and service time further shortened.

Meanwhile, the company also released its super-fast charging pile, Power Charge 3.0, which NIO claimed has a peak power of 500kW.
