Changan Automobile inaugurates Changan Technology Company

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Changan Automobile officially inaugurated Changan Technology Company at its 160th anniversary event on December 25.

The inauguration of Changan Technology Company signifies the automaker’s determination of transforming to a technology-driven enterprise. According to Zhu Huarong, chairman of Changan Automobile, the company plans to pour a total of 200 billion yuan ($28.67 billion) over the next decade to rebrand Changan Automobile. Revolving around Changan Technology Company, the automaker will invest more than 150 billion yuan ($21.5 billion) in the new automobile technology industry chain, build a science and technology innovation team of more than 10,000 staff members, develop a super vehicle intelligent platform, and layout in the controller and other technology segments.  

By 2025, Changan Automobile will launch more than 30 new products, and continue to cooperate with Huawei, Tencent, Bosch, CATL, and other joint venture partners in the new energy vehicle and automotive intelligence fields. 

By 2030, the group aims to see its annual overall sales volume reach 5 million vehicles, among which, Changan brand will sell 3.5 million vehicles, ranking among the top ten automobile enterprises worldwide. New energy vehicle sales will reach 2.1 million units by the time, accounting for 60% of the automaker’s total sales, while overseas sales volume will reach 1.05 million vehicles, accounting for 30% of the automaker’s total sales. 

Aside from inaugurating the technology company, Changan Automobile also officially introduced its three new energy power systems, namely, Changan hydrogen fuel cell system, Changan smart electric iDD, and Changan Force.

Changan Automobile has successfully built China's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell system for passenger vehicles. Its pioneering design of hetero-side water-gas reactor reduces the length of the pipeline wiring harness by 20% than average, offering high power while taking up a smaller space. The technology improves the hydrogen-eletricity conversion efficiency by 62% than usual, enabling a hydrogen consumption of 0.65kg per 100km. The system has been firstly implemented onto the fuel-cell version of Changan Shenlan’s SL03 sedan.

On the other hand, Changan smart electric iDD system adopts the HIS hybrid platform, which gives the vehicle a strong power output. It also features high intelligent electric control capability. Under the intelligent energy system management, the comprehensive fuel consumption of the vehicle is only 1.59L/100km and the combined range of the vehicle can reach 1,200km. The system is equipped with a 30.74kwh battery pairing with advanced algorithms. Vehicles installed with the iDD system supports 6.6kw AC/DC dual fast charging function and 220V household charging. Currently, the Changan smart electric iDD has been applied to the UNI-K, the UNI-V, and the Oshan Z6, and will be carried on six other models including the CS75PLUS and the CS55PLUS in the future.

As to Changan Force, the system is consisted of two parts, namely "Force intelligent range extension" and "Force super integrated electric drive". It adopts the industry's first microkernel high-frequency pulse heating technology. Under the extreme environment of -30℃, the technology can heat up the battery temperature by 4℃ per minute, and increase the vehicle power performance by 50%, as well as shorten the vehicle charging time by 15%.

Leveraging the company’s non-inductive NVH technology, the Force system can achieve an ultra-long combined range of 1,200km. Currently, the Force technology has been deployed on Changan Automobile’s SL03 sedan, which hit the market in July this year. In addition, the technology will also be installed onto the automaker's second Shenlan-branded production model, which will be an SUV debuting in 2023.
