Dongfeng Nissan expects electrified vehicles to make up 40% of new car sales by 2025

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Dongfeng Nissan, the joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan Motor, plans to roll out over 20 new models across its three brands, namely, Nissan, Venucia, and Infiniti, over the next five years, covering both the traditional oil-fuel vehicle and new energy vehicle (NEV) segments, according to a press release the joint venture issued on Dec. 30.

By the end of 2025, Dongfeng Nissan expects electrified models to account for up to 40% of its annual auto sales. By that year, the automaker wishes to see a total of nine models powered by the Zero Emission all-electric technology, the e-POWER hybrid electric technology, and other electrification technologies.

At the Auto Guangzhou 2022 kicking off on Dec. 30, Dongfeng Nissan's Venucia brand launched its NEV strategy under which it will no longer work on the R&D of new oil-fueled models, but focus on the NEV field. Venucia plans to launch at least two new NEV models per year in the future, and aims to create the systematic capability of selling 300,000 vehicles annually, and then strive to hit the annual sale target of 500,000 units.

As for the technical supports, Venucia's NEV strategy takes the V-πBEV (battery-electric vehicle)-dedicated platform and the DD-i super hybrid technology as the focus. In addition, the carmaker will also actively work on the R&D of FCV (fuel cell vehicle)-related technologies.

At the Auto Guangzhou 2022, Venucia offered the first glimpse of two all-new NEV models, namely, the Venucia Ve concept and the Venucia V-Online DD-i. The Ve concept is the first concept model riding on the V-π BEV platform, while the V-Online DD-i is the first one to use Venucia's DD-i super hybrid technology.
