NIO deploys 1,305 battery swap stations, 1,223 supercharging stations in China by Dec. 2022
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- NIO announced via its WeChat account the achievements it has made in power network construction.
As of Dec. 2022, NIO has deployed across China a total of 1,305 battery swapping stations (346 of which were located on expressways), 1,223 supercharging stations with 6,209 supercharging piles, and 1,058 destination charging stations with 7,159 destination charging piles. By that moment, the electric vehicle (EV) startup has had access to over 630,000 third-party charging piles.

The power facilities the company added in 2022 include 528 battery swapping stations (142 of which were situated on expressways), 618 supercharging stations with 2,805 supercharging piles, 423 destination charging stations with 3,698 destination charging piles, and the access to more than 210,000 third-party charging piles.
NIO said it topped other auto brands with 13,368 public charging piles deployed in China by Dec. 2022. Aside from the NIO brand, the startup has already offered charging services to over 110 car brands.
As of Dec. 2022, about 68.99% NIO users have lived in the "Swap Station District House", which NIO refer to the residence within a 3-km radius from a battery swap station.
NIO said it has built an expressway battery swapping network that embraces 5 north-west and 3 east-west expressways, as well as 8 city clusters.
NIO offers home charging piles with three power options—7kW, 11kW, and 20kW—to meet users’ diverse demands. It has so far installed home charging piles for more than 160,000 users.
As for external cooperation, NIO has forged partnerships with the four energy giants, namely, Sinopec Group, China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and Shell, resulting in the co-construction of 269 EV charging and battery swapping stations so far.
NIO joined hands with IKEA, Huazhu, Yintai Group, and other large business complex enterprises to speed up the deployment of its EV charging and battery stations in urban areas. It is also boosting the development of its expressway battery swapping network by signing agreements with the expressway management firms of such provinces as Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong, and Hubei.
On Sept. 16, 2022, NIO's Power Europe Facility in Hungary delivered its first Power Swap Station to Germany. In overseas markets, NIO has already launched 10 battery swap stations in European countries including Norway, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
