The E001 is the mass-produced version of Hongqi’s previously introduced concept, the Sedan EV. The body in white of the E001 rolled off line in early January. The Sedan EV is the first new energy sedan model to ride on  Hongqi's FMEs platform, and is expected to hit the market in 2023.

Riding on Hongqi’s exclusively designed FMEs platform architecture, the Sedan EV boasts an outstanding battery-electric range of over 1,000km. The model supports 30kW wireless charging, and is also battery swappable. According to Hongqi, the Sedan EV’s charging ability allows the vehicle to charge for 350km of range in a 5-minute charging session.

Moreover, with its streamlined profile, the Sedan EV features a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3 seconds. Hongqi said, the electric vehicle is capable of high-level all-weather autonomous driving functions under multiple scenarios. It is also installed with an eco-friendly, smart, interactive, and OTA upgradable “E Metaverse” cockpit.

Hongqi plans to launch three all-new electric vehicle models between 2023 and 2024. In addition to the E001, the E202 pure-electric midsize SUV is also scheduled to be released in the second half of this year. Meanwhile, the electric midsize sedan, code-named E702, will hit the market in the first half of 2024.
