Huawei, JAC Group’s new energy vehicle factory starts construction

Beijing (Gasgoo)- The new energy vehicle (NEV) factory project jointly developed by China’s ICT giant Huawei and JAC Group has kicked off, according to a bidding document released by China State Construction last week.

According to the document, the Sixth Engineering Division of China State Construction has won the bid of the “Anhui Province Feixi New Energy Vehicle Intelligent Industrial Park EPC Project” for 1.544 billion yuan. 

The project is located in Feixi County, Anhui Province, with a total construction area of approximately 510,000 square meters. The construction project includes a welding and painting plant, final assembly workshop, office space, cafeteria, and related public service facilities. The completed project will be used to develop the next generation of high-end intelligent electric vehicles for Huawei and JAC Group. 

In fact, JAC Group and Huawei began collaboration since December 2019, when the duo signed a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement and MDC platform project cooperation agreement. Following this cooperation, Huawei's onboard computer system, intelligent driving system, and the world's first 77G millimeter-wave radar have been implemented in JAC Group' vehicles, such as the SEHOL QX, SEHOL Yao, and the SEHOL Aipao.

In June 2022, Huawei has reportedly struck respective deals with several Chinese automakers to cooperate under the HUAWEI Smart Selection cooperation mode, including Chery Auto, JAC Group, and ARCFOX.

According to a report by the Hefei Daily in January 2023, Hefei’s municipal authorities met with Huawei's executive and had in-depth discussions on jointly promoting Huawei and JAC Group’s cooperation in Feixi County. The report stated that Huawei will collaborate with JAC Group to develop a new generation of high-end intelligent electric platforms in Hefei.
