NIO deploys 1,331 power swap stations worldwide by end of Feb. 2023

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- As of Feb. 28, 2023, NIO has deployed 1,331 power swap stations (including 350 stations dedicated to expressway service), 1,261 supercharging stations with 6,385 supercharging piles, and 1,114 destination charging stations with 7,558 destination charging piles worldwide, according to a post on NIO’s WeChat account.

Among the aforesaid facilities, there were 11 power swap stations and 6 supercharging stations with 18 supercharging piles located outside of China.

By the end of Feb. 2023, NIO has had access to over 1,048,000 third-party charging piles, more than 388,000 of which were deployed overseas.

Last month, NIO newly launched 8 battery swap stations, 15 supercharging stations, 36 destination charging stations, and got access to 31,823 third-party charging piles in the world. Of them, one battery swap station and one supercharging stations were built in the overseas markets.

NIO announced on Feb. 21 the revised target set for its battery swapping network, under which the company aims to newly construct 1,000 battery swap stations this year, resulting in a cumulative volume of over 2,300 stations by the end of 2023.

Of the power swap stations to be deployed this year, around 400 will be located at expressway rest stops and the entries to expressways, and the other 600 will be mainly built in urban areas of the third-/fourth-tier cities and counties where NIO’s power swap stations have not tapped, but a certain user base has already established, said William Bin Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO.

The latest target revision came after NIO stated last year that it planned to newly build 400 battery swap stations and 7,000 charging piles in 2023, indicating the company intensified expansion of its power network.

Regarding the sales and service network, by the end of Feb. 2023, NIO has deployed in the world a total of 101 NIO Houses, 296 NIO Spaces, 292 NIO Service Centers, 50 NIO delivery centers, as well as 3 used-car experience shops.
