NIO completes 20 millionth battery swap

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- With a NIO ES6 leaving NIO’s service center in Wuchang subdistrict, Hangzhou city with a fully charged battery pack on Apr. 3, NIO officially reached the milestone of completing 20 million battery swaps.

The service capacity of the Power Swap station has increased significantly, said NIO. Currently, its battery swap stations provide more than 45,000 battery swap services per day, which means that on average, a NIO vehicle can depart from the power swap station fully charged every 1.9 seconds.

With 20 million battery swaps fulfilled, NIO has provided users with a total driving distance of over 5.106 billion kilometers, reducing approximately 550,286 tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to the amount absorbed by 4.97 million spruce trees over 30 years.

Aside from the battery swap, NIO also launched the battery upgrade service, which allows users to upgrade vehicle range more conveniently and flexibly. As of today, it has provided users with 63,136 battery upgrade services.

Starting from Mar. 28, 2023, NIO has rolled out the deployment of the 3rd-generation Power Swap station in China, with each station having a service capacity of up to 408 swaps per day. As of Mar. 31, 2023, NIO had deployed 1,339 Power Swap stations, 1,285 Power Charger stations with 6,467 chargers, and 1,154 destination charging stations with 7,993 chargers worldwide. The automaker plans to install 1,000 Power Swap stations in 2023.
