Geely’s ZEEKR begins delivering power suite enabling over 1,000-km range for ZEEKR 001 WE

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- ZEEKR, Geely's standalone division for premium electric vehicles, has started delivering a new power suite that will offer over 1,000km of CLTC-rated range to the ZEEKR 001 WE version, the automaker announced on May 16 via its Twitter-like Weibo account.

The new suite, which boasts a 140kW battery pack that uses CATL's third-generation CTP (cell-to-pack) technology ("Qilin"), will endow a ZEEKR 001 WE model with a range of up to 1,032km under the CLTC test cycle.

The ZEEKR 001 WE that adopts the new power suite will start at 403,000 yuan, versus the starting price of 300,000 yuan for the WE version powered by a 100kWh battery pack.

The suite’s exceptionally long range is partly thanks to the SiC technology used on the rear electric motor, which boosts the efficiency of the high-performance permanent magnet synchronous electric drive system to 95%, enabling an increase of 38 km in the combined CLTC driving range.

CATL’s Qilin battery also contributes to the long range. Launched in June 2022, the Qilin battery features a volume utilization efficiency of 72% and an energy density of up to 255 Wh/kg, according to CATL’s introduction. With the same chemical system and the same pack size, it can deliver 13% more power than the 4680 battery, accomplishing an all-round improvement in range, fast-charging, safety, service life, efficiency and low-temperature performance.
