GAC Energy, PetroChina to promote cooperation on energy network

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 16, GAC Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (“GAC Energy”) and the Guangdong sales branch of PetroChina Company Limited (“PetroChina Guangdong”) signed an agreement to conduct in-depth cooperation in the field of energy, according to a post on GAC Energy’s WeChat account.

To promote the development of the new energy industry, GAC Energy and PetroChina Guangdong formed a deep strategic partnership to jointly innovate in business operation models and conduct pilot projects in the energy sector by leveraging their respective resource advantages, said GAC Energy.

Under the agreement, in the future, both parties will open up their existing station resources and establish platform interoperability, enabling collaborative operations in such areas as solar energy storage, EV charging, and vehicle sales agency services. In addition, they will expedite the layout of electricity supplement networks in rural areas, promoting the establishment of nationwide rural network sites through station planning that emphasizes slow charging as the main approach while incorporating fast charging as auxiliary.

The duo has decided to adopt a "three-step" approach to advance their strategic cooperation. Firstly, starting with Guangdong, the collaborative projects will be implemented to facilitate the rapid building of EV charging and battery swapping stations. Secondly, based on preliminary collaborations, both parties will drive their cooperation to a nationwide scale. Lastly, they will cement the joint-venture cooperation to jointly build a high-quality energy supply system.

Since the beginning of this year, the first batch of four EV charging and battery swapping cooperative projects between the two parties have been fully initiated, according to GAC Energy.
