Haima Automobile sees prototype of 7X-H FCV equipped with Toyota’s fuel cell stack roll off line

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 17, Chinese automaker Haima Automobile saw the first functional prototype of the 7X-H FCV (fuel cell vehicle), which is equipped with Toyota Motor’s fuel cell stack system, roll off the production line at the manufacturing base of its subsidiary, Hainan Haima Automobile Co., Ltd., according to an announcement from Haima Automobile.

Following the completion of the prototype, vehicle performance coordination and calibration works will be further carried out, followed by road durability testing, said the company. In the future, Haima Automobile plans to proceed with relevant vehicle demonstrations and operations in small batches, to accelerate the promotion and industrialization of hydrogen fuel cell passenger vehicles in Hainan province.

The birth of the prototype signifies the latest achievement of the cooperation between Haima Automobile and Toyota Motor. The two parties signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on Mar. 24, under which they will use Hainan Island as a large-scale testing ground for overall experience. The duo will equip Haima Motors' FCVs with mature components and systems, including Toyota's second-generation Mirai fuel cell stack, to complete the development of vehicle adaptability. Additionally, they will conduct testing by integrating the Haima Automobile's self-built hydrogen supply system and transportation network.

In addition, both parties will also fully share relevant information regarding the vehicle operation testing, laying the foundation for future cooperation. The agreement will be valid for 10 years.
