Tesla China issues time-limit insurance, loan incentives for Model 3 RWD

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 16, Tesla China announced via its official Sina Weibo account a limited-time incentive for the China-made Model 3, which is now available for immediate purchase.

From June 16th to 30, those who buy and complete the delivery of the locally-produced Model 3 RWD can enjoy a 8,000-yuan insurance subsidy and preferential interest rate loan schemes. This development comes as an attractive offer to potential Tesla buyers, as they could potentially save on upfront costs.

According to the current listing on Tesla China's official website, the price for the Model 3 RWD stands at 231,900 yuan. With the insurance subsidy, the starting price of the China-made Model 3 RWD model will drop to 223,900 yuan. This effectively puts a Tesla vehicle within closer reach of more consumers, potentially broadening Tesla's market reach.

However, it's important to note that to avail of this time-limited subsidy, consumers need to purchase insurance from Tesla's partner insurers, and the loan schemes require approval from financial institutions.

What makes this incentive unique is Tesla's emphasis on "immediate delivery", hinting that consumers do not have to wait for delivery cycles. This has led to speculation among industry watchers that Tesla may be clearing its inventory of domestically produced Model 3s in anticipation of a new model release.

In mid-May, media reported that Tesla's Shanghai factory was in the final stages of preparation for the trial production of a revised Model 3. Informed sources claim that the first-phase production line at the Shanghai factory would be suspended for several days at the end of May for adjustments. At the end of May, drone footage of the Shanghai factory revealed that while the factory was still in full operation, most activities were concentrated on the Model Y, and the Model 3 workspace was unusually quiet.
