Great Wall Motor’s Jingmen branch said to expand product lineup with three new models

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- According to report posted on www.jmnews.com on June 29, a responsible person from Great Wall Motor (GWM)'s Jingmen branch revealed that the company is currently conducting trial production of three new models: the Tank 400, Haval H5, and WEY High Mountain (“Gaoshan” in Chinese). These models are about to enter mass production.

The Tank 400 is positioned as a mid-to-large-sized armored off-road SUV. Both the petrol and hybrid versions of the Tank 400 have been exposed recently. According to the brand's plan, the new model is expected to be launched in the third quarter. The Haval H5, positioned as a large SUV, is likely to adopt a non-monocoque body structure and is also expected to be released in the third quarter. The first MPV model under the WEY brand, the High Mountain, is scheduled to be launched in August.

With the imminent mass production of these three models, GWM' Jingmen branch will expand its production lineup to six models, in addition to the existing Tank 500 SUV, Jingang Poer pickup truck, and Shanghai Poer pickup truck.

According to information obtained by jmnews, the Jingmen-based company's daily production capacity is close to 300 vehicles per shift. With the increased production models and output requirements, it is transitioning from a single-shift daily mode to a double-shift daily mode.

A source revealed, "The Jingmen branch has recruited nearly 900 new workers and plans to hire an additional 2,700, bringing the total number of workers to 8,200. The double-shift mode will commence in mid-July."

In addition, GWM’s Jingmen vehicle production base plans to produce 120,000 vehicles this year, a 240% increase compared to last year.
