GAC Group to install full-solid-state batteries into vehicles in 2026

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The Auto Guangzhou 2023, whose curtain rose on November 17, witnessed the prominent presence of GAC Group's five major automotive brands: Trumpchi, AION, Hyper, GAC Honda, and GAC Toyota.

GAC Group emphasized its strategic positioning in forward-thinking technologies such as next-gen battery tech, hydrogen, and flying cars.

GAC Group outlined its commitment to such battery technologies as solid-state battery, cobalt-free battery, low-cobalt battery, and sodium-ion battery. Of particular note, the breakthrough in solid-state battery technology, achieving a remarkable energy density of 400Wh/Kg, is set to meet safety and reliability standards under extreme conditions, with plans for deployment in vehicles by 2026.

A highlight of the auto show was the debut of the GAC ERA smart clean flagship hydrogen-powered concept car. Built on GAC's latest multi-energy platform architecture, the ERA concept boasts hydrogen fuel cells, and front and rear distributed motors, delivering a robust 540 horsepower, an impressive range exceeding 800km, and zero emissions. The design blends minimalist tech aesthetics with a unique dynamic appearance, while the interior follows the concept of a "mobile living room," exploring human-centric spatial design.

At the Auto Guangzhou this year, both wholly-owned brands and joint ventures under GAC Group are trying to amaze audiences with their new energy vehicle (NEV) products.

GAC AION, showcasing its dual brands "AION" and "Hyper," saw the AION Y Plus Chao Ye Edition, officially hit the market. Under the Hyper brand, three models made their collective debut: the luxurious all-electric supercar Hyper SSR, the mid-to-large premium all-electric SUV Hyper HT, and the mid-to-large sports sedan Hyper GT.

The recently launched Hyper HT, equipped with distinctive two-stage ultra-wide-angle gull-wing-styled doors and the ADiGO PILOT 5.0 intelligent driving system, starts at 213,900 yuan. Within less than 36 hours of its market release on November 15, the Hyper HT garnered over ten thousand new orders, with cumulative orders exceeding thirty thousand by November 17.

GAC Trumpchi introduced the new technology brand "Trumpchi i-GTEC," integrating advanced technologies such as high-end electronic and electrical architecture, high-performance intelligent driving, and emotion-sensitive intelligent cockpit. On the same day, the Trumpchi E8 was officially launched, with an official starting price of 209,800 yuan for the E8 PRO version and 229,800 yuan for the E8 MAX version, boasting a combined range of 1,200 kilometers. The collective debut of three new energy models – the Trumpchi E9, ES9, and E8 - underscores GAC Trumpchi's transformative prowess and achievements in new energy vehicle business.

GAC Honda has achieved a cumulative production and sales milestone of ten million vehicles so far this year. At the ongoing auto show, the brand unveiled a collective lineup of 10 electric vehicles, encompassing the three major powertrain categories: hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV). Making its debut is the second model from the all-electric brand e:NP - the e:NP2, scheduled for release in the first half of 2024. Additionally, it showcased the all-new concept car, the Honda e:N.

GAC Toyota introduced the NEV brand "Bozhi," with the first model under the brand, the Bozhi 4X SUV, hitting the market with a starting price of 179,800 yuan. Moreover, the ninth-generation Camry made its debut, featuring enhanced electrified exterior design, intelligent cockpit, and driving performance.
