FAW Jiefang, Faurecia Hydrogen, Air Liquide intend to co-boost hydrogen applications in transport domain

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 28, Chinese commercial vehicle maker FAW Jiefang, Faurecia (Shanghai) Hydrogen Investment Co., Ltd. ("Faurecia Hydrogen"), and Air Liquide (China) Investment Co., Ltd. ("Air Liquide") inked a comprehensive hydrogen energy strategic cooperation framework in Changchun city, signifying their crucial step toward exploring the vast potential of liquid hydrogen technology.

In this collaboration, the three parties reached a consensus on hydrogen technology R&D, as well as the layout of the hydrogen energy industrial chain. Harnessing their respective technological and resource strengths, they aim to expedite the application of hydrogen energy in the transportation sector, contributing jointly to global green mobility and sustainable development.

Ji Yizhi, Deputy General Manager of FAW Jiefang, highlighted the expansive prospects of liquid hydrogen technology. He said FAW Jiefang is committed to leveraging this strategic cooperation to unite with Faurecia Hydrogen and Air Liquide, jointly constructing demonstration scenarios for liquid hydrogen applications, and promoting the commercial application of liquid hydrogen, thereby creating a new benchmark for the development of the hydrogen energy industry in China.

Alban Brisset, General Manager of Faurecia Hydrogen China, emphasized the vast application prospects of hydrogen energy as a clean energy source in the heavy-duty truck sector. He added liquid hydrogen is a crucial solution to increase hydrogen payload, extend vehicle range, and reduce the overall lifecycle usage costs. Faurecia Hydrogen, in collaboration with Air Liquide, has previously developed liquid hydrogen tanks, aiming to provide cost-effective solutions for heavy-duty vehicles. Through this strategic partnership with FAW Jiefang, they aim to expedite the application of liquid hydrogen in the Chinese market.

Chen Xing, Vice President of Air Liquide's Hydrogen Energy Business in China, expressed confidence in the need for liquid hydrogen to develop and scale up in the transportation sector. He revealed that Air Liquide has already invested significantly in developing this technology, focusing on scaling up and improving efficiency to reduce costs. The company believes it has chosen the right partner in China to drive further innovation.
