According to the agreement, the two parties will leverage their respective strengths to actively collaborate in several areas, including policy research on the recycling of retired new energy vehicles (NEVs) and used batteries, the establishment of recycling network systems, the construction of an integrated treatment base for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, carbon asset management, and green power. Together, they aim to create a comprehensive lifecycle value chain for the recycling and utilization of used batteries across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and nationwide. This initiative is expected to enhance the recycling system for used batteries and lay a solid foundation for high-quality, green, and low-carbon development.
Chen Min'er, the Secretary of the Communist Party of China Tianjin Municipal Committee, expressed the hope that this agreement will serve as a new starting point for deepening practical cooperation in various fields, including the research and manufacturing of new energy batteries, heavy-duty truck charging and swapping infrastructure, intelligent connected NEVs, and the circular economy. He emphasized the goal of attracting more upstream and downstream enterprises to develop and cluster in Tianjin, thereby promoting industrial synergy, chain formation, and mutual benefit.
Zeng Yuqun, the founder and chairman of CATL, stated that CATL will seize the strategic opportunity of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development plan. He highlighted Tianjin as a crucial base for the development of the new energy industry and committed to accelerating the implementation of the agreement's initiatives. CATL plans to leverage its technological research and development advantages to continually expand its business presence in Tianjin, further broadening the scope of cooperation between the two parties and contributing to Tianjin's green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.
