NIO, Guangdong Power Grid open first collaborative battery swap station

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 8, the first NIO battery swap station invested by Guangdong Power Grid Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd. ("Guangdong Power Grid EV") officially went online in Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province.

This marks the inaugural project by Guangdong Power Grid EV after joining the NIO Power Up project as one of the first partners.

The Zhaoqing comprehensive energy replenishment station, integrating solar power, V2G (vehicle-to-grid) technology, and a battery swap station, is the fourth NIO battery swap station in Zhaoqing city, and the third of NIO's fourth-generation battery swap stations in the area. This installation aims to expand the electric vehicle service network in the region.

Through this partnership, Guangdong Power Grid EV and NIO will collaborate to create a "solar-storage-charge-battery swap" energy network across Guangdong, with the goal of accelerating the province's power infrastructure development. The new station leverages energy storage capabilities to support grid load management, experimenting with vehicle-to-grid integration, virtual power plants, and enhanced grid flexibility.

As of November 8, NIO operates 334 battery swap stations and 3,239 charging piles in Guangdong, including 94 battery swap stations along highways, achieving full coverage with an average of one battery swap station approximately every 128 kilometers along the province's highways.
