Description

ECONYL® regenerated nylon is 100% recycled yarn made of plastic waste such as fishing nets, fabric scraps and old carpets. ECONYL® regeneration system: since 2011, we have been able to give waste a new life, producing a special nylon that is 100% regenerated and fully recyclable, maintains the same quality as traditional nylon, and has way lower environmental impact if compared with production of standard nylon. Instead of crude oil, ECONYL® regenerated nylon uses a chemical process with 100% pre- and post-consumer recycled content, through a process of depolymerization and re-polymerization, can be recycled indefinitely, with no loss of quality.

Unique advantages

ECONYL® Nylon has some unique characteristics, which differentiates it from all other fibres in the market:  • 100% regenerated and 100% regenerable • It maintains the same exact qualitative characteristics of primary source nylon • It can be recycled an infinite number of times without losing quality, obviating the limitations associated with traditional mechanical recycling • It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% in compared with the production of standard nylon. This means that for each 10,000 tons of raw material, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved and 65,100 tons of CO2eq. emissions are avoided. • It regenerates vast amounts of waste material that would otherwise be sent to landfill or end up polluting the environment, such as old carpets, pre-consumer or post-consumer waste, aquaculture and fishing nets waste.
