Volvo's Senior Vice President and Chairman of China Operations Shen Hui was among those in attendance, where he stated that Chengdu was on the heels of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to become the country's next large automobile market. If everything goes well, he said, Volvo's new production site in Chengdu would begin production in 2013, where its first vehicle would be something "that has definitely never been seen before in the country."
