Growth was shared by both domestic own brand manufacturers and foreign-Sino joint venture enterprises. Sales of own brand passenger automobiles increased 27.1%. Passenger automobile sales of American and Japanese passenger automobiles increased 14.9% and 9.1%, while those of German and Korean automobiles growing 8.0% and 4.7%.

However, on the whole the market still managed to achieve positive year-on-year growth over the first three quarters of the year. The majority of domestic own brand automotive manufacturing enterprises have achieved positive year-on-year growth over the first three quarters of the year, with BYD seeing its net profits over quintuple from the previous year. At the other end of the spectrum, FAW Xiali saw its net deficit decrease even further.
