Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Haval, an SUV-dedicated brand of Great Wall Motor (“GWM”), will ban the sales of oil-fueled vehicles by 2030, GWM said on August 22 at the new energy strategy launch conference held for the Haval brand.

At the same time, Li Xiaorui, general manager of Haval brand, revealed that new energy vehicles (“NEVs”) would account for 80% of the brand's overall auto sales by 2025.

The move means another automaker joined the lineup of Chinese legacy carmakers represented by BYD, who announced it had halted production of fuel-powered vehicles in March this year.

Moreover, Haval brand released its fire new logo at the event. The design is inspired by “mortise and tenon joint”, a traditional Chinese architecture technique, delivering a concept of inheriting and innovating in the “spirit of the craftsman”.

Haval will set up an NEV-dedicated subsidiary to support its NEV business development. In addition, it plans to build some showrooms to exhibit its NEV products this year.

As for the group's planning, GWM said it is speeding up the transition towards being a “global technology mobility company”. It has invested 10 billion yuan ($1.459 billion) in technology R&D by 2021, and the cumulative value will grow to 100 billion yuan ($14.595 billion) by 2025.

Besides, GWM is taking a fast lane to a green tomorrow by implementing the three-pronged strategy, which integrates the HEV, BEV, and FCV routes.

At the strategy launch event, the third-generation Haval H6 DHT HEV hit the market, with a guidance price of 149,800 yuan ($21,860).

Presale of the third-generation Haval H6 DHT PHEV kicked off at the same time. The model comes with two all-electric range options—55km and 110km, which is priced at 168,800 yuan ($24,640) and 176,800 yuan ($25,800) after subsidies in presale, respectively.
