SAIC Motor boasts 4.18% YoY growth in Jan.-Sept. 2022 auto sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC Motor announced last Sunday its auto sales reached 517,092 units in Sept. 2022, edging up 0.25% year on year, while also slightly rising 0.98% month on month.

For the first nine months of this year, the Shanghai-based auto giant sold 3,770,224 vehicles in total, representing a 4.18% growth compared to the year-ago period.

Among the group's subsidiaries, SAIC-GM-Wuling ("SGMW") outsold others in Sept. with a sales volume of 164,200 units, scoring a 9.47% year-on-year growth.

On Sept. 28, SGMW put an all-new small-sized SUV bearing its silver logo, the Wuling Xingchi, onto the market, with six trim levels offered. Besides, the convertible version of the hotter-selling Wuling Hongguang MINIEV also went on sale in late Sept., priced at 99,900 yuan ($14,050). Deliveries of the Wuling Asta HEV kicked off last month as well.

Both SAIC Volkswagen and SAIC-GM recorded a sales volume of over 100,000 units last month, but the latter failed to gain a year-on-year rise.

SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company ("SAIC Motor PV") saw its Sept. sales dip 7.6% over a year earlier, but its year-to-date sales still jumped 23.38%.

SAIC Maxus' monthly sales dropped 2.07% year over year to 21,724 units in September, resulting in a Jan.-Sept. sales volume of 152,107 units (-7.1% YoY). Last month, the company put the MIFA fuel cell MPVs into operation through Xiangdao Chuxing, the mobility service platform of SAIC Motor.

The sales of IM Motors, a premium electric vehicle maker backed by SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang High-Tech, saw its monthly sales reach 1,019 units last month, resulting in 3,077 units in its year-to-date sales.

In addition, SAIC Motor's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales stood at 95,379 units in Sept., leaping 48.49% over the previous year. During the same month, the group saw its export volume and sales of overseas markets total 108,355 units, up 51.19% year over year.
