SGMW’s annual auto export volume jumps 33% in 2022
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), General Motors' joint venture with Chinese partners SAIC Motor and Guangxi Automobile Group, today announced via its WeChat account that its annual auto sales amounted to 1,600,007 units in 2022. Notably, its full-year new energy vehicle (NEV) sales jumped 33% year on year to over 600,000 units.
SGMW also said it exported a total of 193,579 vehicles through 2022, representing a jump of 33% from the previous year. The annual retail sales to Mexico, one of the automaker's core overseas markets, zoomed up 206% year on year, while its Indonesia-based subsidiary recorded a sales volume of 30,037 vehicles last year.

In the year of 2022, SGMW rolled out multiple new BEV (battery electric vehicle) and HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) models that embody the joint venture's creative breakthroughs in vehicle design and power solutions, such as the Hongguang MINIEV GAMEBOY, the Wuling Asta HEV, the 2023 KiWi EV, the convertible Hongguang MINIEV, the Wuling Almaz Hybrid, and the Air ev.
With many products showcased outside of China, SGMW is improving its presence in overseas markets. For instance, the Air ev, Wuling's first NEV model targeting the global market, made its debut at the Indonesian International Auto Show in last Aug. and rolled off the production line in the country in the same month. The Wuling Almaz Hybrid went on sale in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, in early Nov. 2022.
