Geely successfully launches 3rd orbital plane of Future Mobility Constellation with 10 satellites

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On September 6, 2024, at 2:30 AM, Geely's Future Mobility Constellation successfully launched its third orbital plane with ten satellites aboard a single rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in China’s Shanxi Province.

The satellites entered their designated orbit, and all are functioning as expected, marking a successful mission.

The Future Mobility Constellation is developed and operated by Geespace, the commercial space subsidiary of Geely Holding. The first and second orbital planes, consisting of nine and eleven satellites, respectively, were launched in June 2022 and February 2024. With this third successful deployment, Geely now has 30 satellites in orbit, covering 90% of the global area 24/7, and has begun offering satellite communication services to overseas users. This marks the first time a Chinese commercial space company is providing low-Earth orbit satellite communication services to global users.

Geely's Future Mobility Constellation initiative is planned in three phases. Phase one aims to deploy 72 satellites, providing global real-time data communication and supporting over 200 million users with low-to-medium-speed satellite communication services. Phase two plans to add 264 satellites that will enable direct satellite communication for existing smartphones. Phase three will deploy 5,676 multimedia satellites for global low-Earth orbit broadband communication services.

With nearly half of phase one's satellites now in orbit, Geely is on track to achieve global commercial service by the end of this year and aims for full phase one completion by the end of 2025, achieving seamless global coverage. This milestone reflects Geely’s progress in building an integrated space-ground mobility ecosystem, enhancing user travel experiences worldwide.
