According to a local press report, the Finance Ministry will refund buyers of used import cars for the tax that has been overcharged without checking the paperwork first for any irregularities.
This means the government will refund some PLN 600m worth of excise duty on used import cars that has been overcharged on motorists since Poland joined the EU on May 1, 2004. Crucially, the Finance Ministry has apparently given up the idea of checking all the paperwork even if the purchase price stated by the buyer looks suspiciously low, which may suggest some irregularities.
