Alternative energy passenger vehicles increase 41% year-to-year in sales, with Geely taking the first place

Shanghai May 12th, 2017 Gasgoo-According to data from CPCA, sales of domestic alternative energy passenger vehicles reach 29,222 units in April, increasing 41% year-to-year and 6% month-to-month on the basis of 27,568 units. Influenced by the re-examination of recommended list, sales of alternative energy vehicles met a free fall in January with 5,423 units. The returning of policies and market stimulates the rebound of alternative energy vehicle market in February. The monthly growth keeps exceeding 10,000 units in February and March. Led by restricted cities’ rebound and economically electric vehicles’ growth, alternative energy vehicle market is expected to meet growth in the future.

Sales ranking list for domestic alternative energy vehicle companies shows that the top 10 companies include Geely, BYD, BAIC BJEV, SAIC, JMC, Chery, JAC, Zotye, Changan and Buick. BEV models still take the main position, most of which are cars. BEV cars increase 77% in sales volume in April, while PHEV models decrease 30% year-to-year, showing the differential pulling effect in zone markets. With the increasing MPV and SUV products in January to April, alternative energy vehicle products are gradually upgraded.

Top 3 best-seller alternative energy vehicle models include BAIC EC series, Know Beans D2 and Emgrand EV with respective sales volumes of 4,352 units, 3,709 units and 2,586 units, followed by SAIC Roewe eRX5 and BYD e5 with numbers of 2,568 units and 2,512 units respectively.
